Peter Hackett Partner

Peter is a serial entrepreneur and successful businessman with 25 years experience in driving and developing businesses including a group of companies built from initial concept through to successful exit and trade sale of 4 companies to a FTSE 200 PLC. To date he has board level experience in 15 companies with a proven track record based on strategy / implementation / teamwork and vision with experience at every level of business.

His approach is to always remain driven and hands on to support and inspire individuals and businesses to become more successful and to enjoy the process

Liam McKenna Partner

Liam set up his first UK company immediately after leaving university age 21 and has continued with the same drive and ambition to build businesses for the past 10 years. He has now overseen the development and growth of a range of successful UK companies holding board positions within 5 businesses operating in 5 different industries. During the same period Liam has also developed and grown one of Hong Kong’s most reputable product design and development companies with manufacturing bases across Asia, UK based design studios and a client list which includes the majority of the UK’s leading retailers inclusive of the majority of the High Street as well as Discounters, Supermarket Chains and Out of Town Retail Groups.

Mark Rea Partner

Mark as well as being a HES partner is the Head of portfolio for his families investment company GreenRock Group.


Mark specialises in providing finance to small businesses so they can buy equipment, manage cash flow or acting as a proxy so they can offer leasing/finance products to their own customers.

Typically investing less than £20,000.00 in any single venture, Mark works with start-ups and other businesses to assist with concept commercialisation "I'm not about throwing money at things and I want to be your partner not buy your business, if we can work together to sell ten then twenty then forty then eighty the business will be more sustainable and built on solid fundamental foundations, we all get the long term rewards from a thriving business. So you bring the idea the passion and the drive and I’ll bring the funds the contacts and the experience to get your idea out into the market." Mark can help you with product pitching/positioning, financial modelling and concept development.

In his spare time Mark is a Chair of Governors at a local primary school, Advisory member to Liverpool City Council Employment, Skills and Enterprise Committee, Charity trustee at NeuroSupport, member of the council of members for Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and he also sits on a number of commercial boards and advisory committees.

 Brendon Kenny is a master of communication with a love for innovation. A powerful and dynamic connector of people and ideas, he has an extraordinary talent for opening doors and matching needs with solutions. He believes that relationships and reputation are central to personal and business success.

Brendon is an experienced entrepreneur who has developed and run multi million pound businesses in the construction, technology, football and media sectors, he is the founder of notify solutions an innovative reporting solution using mobile technology. Brendon currently holds a number of board positions and has experience working on a media standards body.

Cllr Malcolm Kennedy Associate

Malcolm is an expert in regeneration policy with vast experience of the public sector as a Regeneration Policy Officer with the North West Development Agency before starting his own consultancy business. He is also a senior elected member of Liverpool City Council with responsibility for Regeneration.

He has a detailed understanding of local authority processes and policy. He specialises in advising businesses on strategy in dealing with the public sector and training managers in leadership methods. He is dedicated to helping businesses grow who wish to provide services to local authorities and other parts of the public sector..

He has qualifications in teaching, coaching and tender management.

As a member of the local Chamber of Commerce he is involved in mentoring young entrepreneurs who are starting their own businesses.

Simon Cleaver Associate

Simon has amassed a huge range of experience in growing businesses and the issues they face, through a career focussed on equity, quoted markets and debt funding. Most recently he was an active investor in North West SMEs as an Investment Director with YFM Equity Partners, and sat on a number of company boards, ranging from early stage technology through to AIM quoted. Previously, he was the regional representative for the London Stock Exchange, and prior to that was a Senior Analyst in Smaller Companies with Charterhouse Securities. He has an MBA from Manchester Business School and spent four years with 3i plc in Liverpool.
